Pain as Image
In the lecture about his book „Pain as image – Suffering and Self-harm in Performance Art” (Schmerz als Bild – Leiden und Selbstverletzung in der Performance Art), Helge Meyer will talk about images in Performance Art and their relation to harmful actions. In his opinion, these acts are capable of communicating pain. In the course of this, the audience becomes a participant of a special kind in the creation of an image. In this way also complicated cultural, political and personal contents can be communicated in an emphatic way by means of live pictures.
